Minority households’ participation in farm economy development: evidence from the Central Highlands of Vietnam

Abstract. Previous studies have highlighted relationships between socioeconomic factors and farmers’ participation in agricultural development program but not found it under minority people contexts. The aim of the study is to quantify levels households identify determinants their farm policies programs (FDPAP). Methods. To achieve this, both primary secondary sources data are used. gathered through survey 438 farmers from 5 most populous ethnic groups (namely Jarai, Bahnar, E De, Tay, Nung) 10 communes towns 8 districts area by a questionnaire that was designed on five-point Likert scale. Content analysis used determine extent which research model includes five (Perception householder about economy; Mechanisms government/state agency agriculture; Household characteristics; Economic benefits; Production capacity) corresponded identified 24 criteria. Results. findings indicate only at manipulative or passive level. main tending deter households’ characteristics production capacity. In contrast, specific tangible economic benefits motivate them participate more deeply. Scientific novelty lies reliable information livelihoods culture based these results, plays an extremely important role success as public officials push integrate into national agenda.
